hello!
update: i've been totally non-existent on blogger for a month or so and i'm sorry :(( I had troubles with a new laptop I bought, then was really stressed at college and I honestly couldn't find the time! I dropped out of college eventually about a month ago due to being super super stressed and upset when I was there and at the prospect of going in, and it just seemed the best thing to do right now. I was in my second year and everyone and my friends were applying for university, and I didn't want to go and wasn't getting the grades i'm capable of, and would rather be earning some money for a year and possibly going back and trying again next year! so I was super stressed about that and was kinda cutting myself off from everyone, BUT now i'm working more or less full time now and am a lot lot happier and shall be back to blogging! without further ado, let's start the review (yay for accidental rhyming!)
because i've been working like 20 hours or so more a week than I was when I was still at college, i've found myself with a hell of a lot of spare money (I don't drive or anything like that, lucky me!) recently, so I thought one day that i'd treat myself to a bath bomb or two from Lush, and it really rather just escalated from there..
in the past 4 weeks, i've probably spent over £100 on stuff from Lush and The Body Shop omg like honestly i'm a sucker for stuff that smells nice, and am into baths recently as the cold weather is kicking in
SO, I thought i'd document my experiences with the Lush products, starting with my favourite 3!
(sorry in advance for the bad photos, it's hard to take good photos in the bath :(( )
FIRST OF ALL, my favourite favourite favourite
star light, star bright - £3.30
when I went into Lush, a chap came up to me and asked if I needed any help. we kept chatting and I mentioned how I love sparkles and love love LOVE citrusy smells, and he directed me to this!
it's star shaped (obviously) with a very prominent lemon/lime smell, and as soon as I picked it up I was covered in glitter which would NOT COME OFF FOR AGES (literally no exaggeration omg, it only comes off with water and when you rub it really hard) ((as you can see in the photo on the right))
the nice Lush man also told me it's filled with yummy cocoa butter to make your skin super super soft after the bath, which practically sold it to me (as if the glitter wasn't enough)
he said I don't even have to rub anything on my skin, if I just soak in my cocoa buttery water yumminess, my skin will be scrumptious in no time
he also asked me if I liked a baby blue kind of colour (which of course was a yes), and he went on to say to definitley buy this product if I do! I was kinda confused but bought it anyway omg
(i'm so sorry for the poor quality of the next few photos, the steam of the bath made it hard to take a photo plus the star is super slippery!)
turns out, once the glitter has come off in the water and left your water sparkling so so so nicely, a blue gooey type glittery blob in the middle appears and makes your water baby blue! the scent was really citrusy (as promised), with an underlying hint of ginger. I bathe for about an hour until I can be bothered to move, and honestly my skin felt so so so smooth afterwards
the smoothness lasted to the next day, and worked just as well as body butter! obviously a bit more pricey than body butter which you'll get a lot more uses from, BUT a lot more fun! it left me nice and sparkly too (not overly, but just a nice shimmer)
my only issue was (which was my own fault), was that I wasn't too sure how to actually use this.. I know it's a bath melt and not a bath bomb, so wasn't sure whether to let this melt or whether I was supposed to be crushing it under running water or what not! in the end, I went for swishing the glitter off in the water and rubbing the rest over me, AND MY GOD DID I GO BLUE
this isn't edited at all and honestly looked 10x bluer in real life! it washed off nicely and didn't stain, and as the blue squishy blob had lovely shea butter in it too, it was super moisturising and actually dead fun to play with in the bath (that sounds dodgy out of context, hm)
definitley my favourite Lush product so far, and well worth the cost
OK NEXT UP is the candy mountain bubble bar!
the same man who sold me star light, star bright, sold me this one too- I said my favourite colour was pink and that I loved their snow fairy shower gel, and he directed me towards this beautiful beautiful beautiful product
it's a mountain shaped glittery vanillary candy flossy peak of beauty (what) and omg at only £2.65 is well worth it!
with this one, you crumble it in the water near the running taps, and lots of vanilla pink sparkling bubbles appear and you've got yourself a super bubbly bubble bath! (how many times can I say bubble in one sentence wtf)
I wasn't going to buy this, as as far as I was aware it had no real benefits for your skin (unlike star light, star bright which made your skin super soft- and unlike the twilight bath bomb which was meant to help you relax to infinity and beyond) or anything like that, but I bought it anywhere because it was pink and glittery, of course
and hell, i'm so glad I did! it (along with all Lush products) does exactly what it claims it does and smells so gorgeous and actually stays on your skin long after your bath :-)
you can cut this in half if you like and separate it into two separate baths, but I tend to use it all at once because i'm a massive bubble lover

the bath looks a million times pinker in real life (my lighting in the bathroom is awful and really yellow i'm afraid, so takes away some of the pink), and the bath was still running at this point so not all the bubbles were there yet! but when there was, there was about a two inch layer of them all over the bath! a very very very bubbly bath once again, a lovely sparkly glitter runs through the bath which also stays on your skin in a nice and subtle way! a very lovely product and definitley worth stocking up on, as this (as well as the other two i'm reviewing) are limited edition Christmas items, so stock up whilst you can!
lastly, the snow fairy shower gel! if you've been a fan of Lush for a while, you'll probably know this product! I can't really take a photo as it's a shower thing not a bath one, but i'll show you what it looks like
this is a pretty pricey product I have to say, so maybe a good thing to ask for as a christmas present or the like, unless you want to be spending almost £11 on shower gel! for a small 100g lot, it's £3.50, for 250g (the size in my photo) it's £6.85, and for the 500g big one (same size as most shower gels) its £10.95! very expensive, but will last you a long time (i've had mine for over a year and use it sparingly twice a week and it's got very little left), and I mean a verrrrrrrry long time. a little very much goes a long way with this stuff!
well worth the investment if you can get your head round spending so much on something so small! 10/10 would recommend if you have the money!
lathers up and bubbles very nicely, with the smell actually staying on your skin afterwards, unlike most shower gels
as with a lot of Lush christmas products, this has a sparkle to it which leaves a pretty shimmer too! even if you don't buy this, it's definitley worth the trip to Lush just to smell this beauty!
have you tried any Lush products? which are your favourites?
until next time,
x
