happy 2014! new year's ootd and 2014 wishes/goals x

how's your 2014 been going? I know we're only a week in but it feels like so much has happened already, is it just me? I totally forgot to do an outfit of the day post for new years, so i'll quickly do it now..
I know for new year a lot of people have dark lacey dresses with a dark lip and such but I really don't like wearing dark colours (although they look really pretty on other people!), so sorry about how inappropriate my outfit is considering a) its not summer/warm out b) its hardly very festive!

wow my mirror is so dirty I am so sorry
- my skirt was from the river island christmas sale for £2.50 because it had a little teeny pen mark near the back
- my top is from an eBay seller who makes her own clothes, but if you just type in 'mermaid shell top' on eBay/etsy/store envy/google it comes up! mine was £7.90 although you can find similar for cheaper i'm sure
- the same goes for my shoes! an individual eBay seller and these shoes are unbranded, although a search of 'white platform shoes' usually does the trick!
- my jacket is a pink fluffy lil' jacket with rabbit ears, but again is unbranded unless you google 'rabbit fleece jumper' and a whole bunch of them come up from different sites

sorry for that delayed mini-post, but now on for what I was going to actaully write about!

I don't like it much when people say 'new year, new me' because rarely ever do they change past a few weeks into the year! I think it's better to set more realistic goals rather than saying things like 'I'M GOING TO GO RUNNING EVERY DAY AND NOT EAT ANY JUNK FOOD AND I'M GOING TO REVISE EVERY DAY' etc, because if you fail on one day, you're more likely to just give up altogether because it really is just too much at once
I think it's better to just say things like 'i'm going to make more of an effort to exercise more, cut down on junk food and revise at least 3 hours a week' or whatever, because that way it's less drastic and a lot easier to keep up, so you're less likely to quit!

with that in mind, i'm still not sure on what I want out of 2014..
all I know is that I want to make more of an effort to blog more often and to find myself a job I actually enjoy..
what are your wishes and goals for 2014? maybe I could steal a few of your ideas..

what I got for christmas 2013! (lots of lush and soap and glory goodies)

hello again!
I saw a few people doing 'what I got for Christmas' posts and I love reading them, so I thought i'd do one myself! ((this is in no way meant to brag, I just know people who follow me have the same kind of interests so might find this fun to read, that's all))

the main thing I got for Christmas was a new DSLR camera from my mum, so the photos were taken with that! with that in mind, without further ado..

as you probably know if you read my posts, i'm a maaaaaaaasive fan of smelly stuff, be in the body shop, lush, soap and glory.. you name it, i've likely bought it ((and in bulk- seriously when I go into these places I usually spend like 50 pounds or nothing at all, whoops))

for the people who aren't familiar with Christmas Lush products..
Snow Fairy is their best selling product at Christmas and is a yummy shower gel which is supposed to smell like pear drops/a sweet shop, but to me smells like vanilla and candy floss, but all smells super super sweet and literally the smell actually stays on you for ages which is rare

Rose Jam is another shower gel which is supposed to apparently smell like vanilla and rose, but the only scent I picked up from this was a fruity angel delight type smell, but it's my favourite Christmas product they sell because it's literally divine

the three bath bombs along the bottom are all Christmas ones too, but i've only ever tried the Luxury Lush Pud one in the middle! this is a close second to Rose Jam..when you pop this in the water it literally straight away goes bright purple and your water looks COMPLETELY like ribena within seconds, it's crazy! (I did a video on my instagram of it actually if you just click here!) as for the orangey one (Cinders Ballistic), this smells a little funky to me (slightly overpowering cinnamon smell) but has popping candy in it so i'm excited to try it! and the lil' (Snowman Ballistic) is a nice simplistic vanilla scented thing which can be broken in half and used in two separate baths which is a plus!

the little pink fairy is the Snow Fairy Sparkle Bar which has the same smell as the snow fairy shower gel! it's super rich in shea butter so literally even holding it in your hands for 10 seconds melts it a bit and makes your hands super soft! also a plus- the closer you get the middle, the more glitter comes out (that's right, it's a pink glitter filled yummy scented smooth fairy, literally so badass)

ok, the Magic Wand! if you like snow fairy or the sparkle bar, I guarantee you'll like this! just wiggle the wand around in your bath for a bit and you'll have some lovely pink bubbles that smell like a sweet shop in no time

lastly, the wonderful Candy Mountain bubble bar (the pink and white sparkling masterpiece at the top)! ugh, I love this one so bad! whilst it does nothing for your skin in way of moisturising or anything, it turns your bath a crazy pink and makes it sparkly, all whilst smelling like candy floss..(I did a proper review of this one if you click here!
(I know I missed a few out, but I realised how much I was writing so decided to only write about the Christmas ones! if you wanted a review of the others just let me know!)

OK so next up is a bunch of soap and glory stuff! I was lucky enough for my grandparents to buy me The Yule Monty (a big bag of some of soap and glory's best sellers basically), so I took them all out of the bag to show you them all individually!

i've tried about half of these so far and love them all!
thick and fast mascara is super good for a false lash look, but definitley not for your bottom lashes! as the name suggests, this is a big brush and is pretty difficult to move around your lower lash line, but does wonders to the top!
sugar crush body wash is literally smell heaven, it smells so so so so strongly of lime and lemons and just makes you smell so damn clean, it's wonderful!
hand food is exactly what it says (sort of), and is just a nice small hand moisturiser to carry around in your bag, and doesn't leave you feeling at all greasy which is a rarity!

that's all i'm going to say about these as i'm gonna do a proper review of them all properly soon!

so yeah, that's what I was lucky enough to be given this year!

what did you get this year? do you have any lush/soap and glory favourites?

(LATE) MERRY CHRISTMAS GUYS X

this is a lil' late and slacking (as are the rest of my posts), but merry christmas!
i'm getting annoyed at myself for forever making excuses of why i've been lacking in terms of how often i've been posting, but my excuse this time is that my camera was broken :(
however, I was lucky enough to get a super good camera from my dear mother for christmas, so here's a quick few snaps of me from christmas day itself x

not the most flattering photos, but didn't get much time to use it because I was so busy all day :(
but now i've got a good camera, I shall start to film videos and start taking this blogging malarkey seriously!

have a good new year, and see you in a few days with a maaaaaaaaasive soap and glory/body shop/lush haul x

star light, star bright bath melt/snow fairy shower gel/candy mountain bubble bar Lush review + update!

hello!
update: i've been totally non-existent on blogger for a month or so and i'm sorry :(( I had troubles with a new laptop I bought, then was really stressed at college and I honestly couldn't find the time! I dropped out of college eventually about a month ago due to being super super stressed and upset when I was there and at the prospect of going in, and it just seemed the best thing to do right now. I was in my second year and everyone and my friends were applying for university, and I didn't want to go and wasn't getting the grades i'm capable of, and would rather be earning some money for a year and possibly going back and trying again next year! so I was super stressed about that and was kinda cutting myself off from everyone, BUT now i'm working more or less full time now and am a lot lot happier and shall be back to blogging! without further ado, let's start the review (yay for accidental rhyming!)

because i've been working like 20 hours or so more a week than I was when I was still at college, i've found myself with a hell of a lot of spare money (I don't drive or anything like that, lucky me!) recently, so I thought one day that i'd treat myself to a bath bomb or two from Lush, and it really rather just escalated from there..
in the past 4 weeks, i've probably spent over £100 on stuff from Lush and The Body Shop omg like honestly i'm a sucker for stuff that smells nice, and am into baths recently as the cold weather is kicking in
SO, I thought i'd document my experiences with the Lush products, starting with my favourite 3!

(sorry in advance for the bad photos, it's hard to take good photos in the bath :(( )

FIRST OF ALL, my favourite favourite favourite
star light, star bright - £3.30
when I went into Lush, a chap came up to me and asked if I needed any help. we kept chatting and I mentioned how I love sparkles and love love LOVE citrusy smells, and he directed me to this!

it's star shaped (obviously) with a very prominent lemon/lime smell, and as soon as I picked it up I was covered in glitter which would NOT COME OFF FOR AGES (literally no exaggeration omg, it only comes off with water and when you rub it really hard) ((as you can see in the photo on the right))

the nice Lush man also told me it's filled with yummy cocoa butter to make your skin super super soft after the bath, which practically sold it to me (as if the glitter wasn't enough)
he said I don't even have to rub anything on my skin, if I just soak in my cocoa buttery water yumminess, my skin will be scrumptious in no time

he also asked me if I liked a baby blue kind of colour (which of course was a yes), and he went on to say to definitley buy this product if I do! I was kinda confused but bought it anyway omg

(i'm so sorry for the poor quality of the next few photos, the steam of the bath made it hard to take a photo plus the star is super slippery!)
turns out, once the glitter has come off in the water and left your water sparkling so so so nicely, a blue gooey type glittery blob in the middle appears and makes your water baby blue! the scent was really citrusy (as promised), with an underlying hint of ginger. I bathe for about an hour until I can be bothered to move, and honestly my skin felt so so so smooth afterwards
the smoothness lasted to the next day, and worked just as well as body butter! obviously a bit more pricey than body butter which you'll get a lot more uses from, BUT a lot more fun! it left me nice and sparkly too (not overly, but just a nice shimmer)
my only issue was (which was my own fault), was that I wasn't too sure how to actually use this.. I know it's a bath melt and not a bath bomb, so wasn't sure whether to let this melt or whether I was supposed to be crushing it under running water or what not! in the end, I went for swishing the glitter off in the water and rubbing the rest over me, AND MY GOD DID I GO BLUE

this isn't edited at all and honestly looked 10x bluer in real life! it washed off nicely and didn't stain, and as the blue squishy blob had lovely shea butter in it too, it was super moisturising and actually dead fun to play with in the bath (that sounds dodgy out of context, hm)

definitley my favourite Lush product so far, and well worth the cost

OK NEXT UP is the candy mountain bubble bar!

the same man who sold me star light, star bright, sold me this one too- I said my favourite colour was pink and that I loved their snow fairy shower gel, and he directed me towards this beautiful beautiful beautiful product

it's a mountain shaped glittery vanillary candy flossy peak of beauty (what) and omg at only £2.65 is well worth it!
with this one, you crumble it in the water near the running taps, and lots of vanilla pink sparkling bubbles appear and you've got yourself a super bubbly bubble bath! (how many times can I say bubble in one sentence wtf)
I wasn't going to buy this, as as far as I was aware it had no real benefits for your skin (unlike star light, star bright which made your skin super soft- and unlike the twilight bath bomb which was meant to help you relax to infinity and beyond) or anything like that, but I bought it anywhere because it was pink and glittery, of course
and hell, i'm so glad I did! it (along with all Lush products) does exactly what it claims it does and smells so gorgeous and actually stays on your skin long after your bath :-)
you can cut this in half if you like and separate it  into two separate baths, but I tend to use it all at once because i'm a massive bubble lover

the bath looks a million times pinker in real life (my lighting in the bathroom is awful and really yellow i'm afraid, so takes away some of the pink), and the bath was still running at this point so not all the bubbles were there yet! but when there was, there was about a two inch layer of them all over the bath! a very very very bubbly bath             once again, a lovely sparkly glitter runs through the bath which also stays on your skin in a nice and subtle way! a very lovely product and definitley worth stocking up on, as this (as well as the other two i'm reviewing) are limited edition Christmas items, so stock up whilst you can!

lastly, the snow fairy shower gel! if you've been a fan of Lush for a while, you'll probably know this product! I can't really take a photo as it's a shower thing not a bath one, but i'll show you what it looks like

this is a pretty pricey product I have to say, so maybe a good thing to ask for as a christmas present or the like, unless you want to be spending almost £11 on shower gel! for a small 100g lot, it's £3.50, for 250g (the size in my photo) it's £6.85, and for the 500g big one (same size as most shower gels) its £10.95! very expensive, but will last you a long time (i've had mine for over a year and use it sparingly twice a week and it's got very little left), and I mean a verrrrrrrry long time. a little very much goes a long way with this stuff!
well worth the investment if you can get your head round spending so much on something so small! 10/10 would recommend if you have the money!
lathers up and bubbles very nicely, with the smell actually staying on your skin afterwards, unlike most shower gels
as with a lot of Lush christmas products, this has a sparkle to it which leaves a pretty shimmer too! even if you don't buy this, it's definitley worth the trip to Lush just to smell this beauty!

have you tried any Lush products? which are your favourites?

until next time,

I may have met 2 out of 4 of McFly yesterday CAN I GET A HELL YEAH

SO YESTERDAY TWO FRIENDS AND I TOOK A VISIT TO BATH TO GO MEET DOUGIE AND TOM FROM MCFLY
it was for their new children's book which was 95% pictures, but either way, we got to hear a reading of it ((second row from the front)) and there was a time to ask questions which was really cute and a lot more personal than the concerts we've been to, so it was nice seeing them just be themselves

ANYWAY SO our technique for queuing up for them to sign our books was to go to the back so we'd get longer, which really very much backfired
turns out that they wanted to rush everyone at the end and had stopped allowing people hugs as they wanted us to hurry up, and also we missed our train, and THEN missed our backup train, so we were kinda screwed really

EITHER WAY we eventually got to the signing table, and it was a lot better than others signings i've seen where they usually don't even look up at you, they actually spoke to us for ages and Dougie complimented our fashion ((omg)) and my friends platform shoes and made a Spice Girls reference which of course wins him all the awards

sadly, the first photo we got my lip was shaking because I was nervous and I look really stupid, and the second we got I look really chubby because I was slouching and had a massive rucksack on but it's the best i've got :((

my hair looked so big and curly at the start of the day but it was lightly raining the whole time so my hair looks rubbish ok don't shoot ((i'm obviously the one with the worst hair there, but thank god it has flowers in otherwise would've died))
x

I'M BLACK NOW (as in, my hair)

within the past three/four months, i've gone from almost black, bleached 7 or 8 times to blonde, dyed it pink, then dyed it a light brown, then to black again, then bleached about 8 or 9 times to blonde again, then half pink, then pink/purple/blonde, then light brown, then dark brown AND NOW BLACK AGAIN

oddly, my hair isn't too damaged apart from my fringey bits at the side which are usually clipped to the side or pushed back anyway CAN I GET A HELL YEAH

SO TA DAH, HERE'S MY NEW BLACK HAIR

try to sort of ignore the style, the fog in the air had made my hair all damp and gross and it lost its' curls :(((

I gotta stop dying my hair because even though i'm naturally light haired, i'm a brunette girl at heart x

((p.s I was going to say 'i'm a black girl at heart x' but something about that just didn't seem right))

outfit of the day (and why I hate Hollister) ((minus the fact most of their clothes are horrible)) (((no offense)))

just a quick little ootd post!

this is a really awkward camera setting as I was in a rush so just took a photo on my laptop and had to have it awkwardly on its side, so my apologies x

the skirt i'm wearing i've mentioned in past posts, but was off of eBay for around £2, but originally from H&M!
my top is Hollister, which i'm usually very against because the guy who is their CEO/representavtive/owner/whatever his job was, is literally such a dreadful guy
if you don't know what i'm on about, he basically said he 'refuses to make clothes for fat women' and how he 'hopes his clothes never end up in charity shops' and went off on one about that, and that he hopes nobody who 'isn't cool' wears his clothes, so i'm rather ashamed to be wearing one of their tops
however, I got it from a charity shop for £2.60 which is exactly what he didn't want, so i'm not too ashamed x

my flowers here were from Primark for £3.50 reduced to 50p because one of the flowers was missing, so I just took it home and superglued one of my spare flowers I had from making my own flower crowns, and bam, saved £3 :-)
